    Bus Accidents

Millions of people in the Cincinnati area rely on public transportation to get them to and from destinations in and around the city. Buses are one of the most popular forms of public transportation in southwestern Ohio and Northern Kentucky.

While accidents involving buses are not as frequent as traditional motor vehicle crashes, the possible results can often be quite severe. Passengers on buses as well as people outside the vehicles can suffer serious or even fatal injuries.

Types of Bus Accidents in Southwestern Ohio

No two crashes are ever the same, and any one of a number of people may be injured in a bus accident. When an accident is the fault of the bus driver or the company that owns the vehicle, victims can be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other financial costs.

Generally, there are three groups of people who may have injury claims following a bus crash:

    • Bus Passengers — The people riding a bus can suffer potentially serious injuries when buses stop suddenly, flip over, or strike other vehicles. Passengers may be thrown from their seats, and many others who were standing can be powerless to prevent being hurt when buses dramatically shift in direction. People can also be hurt attempting to get on or off buses.
    • Occupants of Other Vehicles — When a bus collides with or falls on top of another automobile, the people inside the smaller motor vehicle can be catastrophically injured.
    • Bicyclists and Pedestrians — Not all bus accidents involve other vehicles. Sometimes a driver error or mechanical problem can result in a person outside the bus being struck and injured by the vehicle.
